Today, the annual Skåne Innovation Week is underway. The purpose of the event is to position Skåne as one of Europe's best regions for innovation and entrepreneurship. And Medicon Village has four events on the agenda, gathered on May 23 and 24. One of them is the VC Heart EU. There you meet SwedenBIO's chairman and the author of a recent report on the Swedish finance landscape in Life Science.

Skåne Innovation Week is a busy week with Region Skåne as the main host. More than 180 activities are organized by 300 actors in different parts of Skåne. Leading innovators, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs hold everything from workshops to hackatons, educations and conversations. The focus is on innovation and development.

"During seven intensive days, a joint effort is made with public, private and idea-based organizations to showcase activities, projects and results that contribute to Skåne being one of Europe's most innovative regions," says Karl-Philip Barakate, business developer at Region Skåne and project manager for Skåne Innovation Week.

Skåne is ranked very high on the list of innovative regions. Innovation is also a heartbeat for Medicon Village, where several member organizations have been recognized - among other things, by granting high funding grants from Horizon 2020 and Vinnova.

-We are proud to be a meeting place for collaboration that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship. Therefore, we also think it is important that we contribute to Region Skåne's initiative, Skåne Innovation Week, ”says Anette Orheim, Communications Manager at Medicon Village.

Of the events taking place during the week at Medicon Village, the VC Heart EU on May 24 is one where participants can ask questions to the author of a recent report.

The report shows that the growing life science sector in Sweden during the last ten years has expanded the opportunities to finance its operations. The author, Sten Westerberg, has investigated the financing history of Swedish Life Science companies and the Swedish stock exchange on behalf of SwedenBIO together with Invest Skåne, Business Region Göteborg, Invest Stockholm and Industrifonden.
